Getting from Montpellier Airport to Cap d'Agde

A lot of people often email me to ask me about the best way to get to Cap d'Agde and in terms of flying, Beziers Cap d'Agde International airport and Montpellier airports are the 2 most common and popular options.

Beziers airport is the closest airport but only has flights from a few locations around Europe. Montpellier airport on the other hand, has connections to cities worldwide and thus is a more attractive and affordable option for many people flying to the South of France, for the worlds largest naturist resort. We have added detailed information on travelling between Montpellier airport and Cap d'Agde online now to help make the info easier to find.

Taxi should be EUR 130 to EUR 150. So quite expensive. The less expensive option:
is:

1. Taxi from airport to Montpellier train station (EUR25-30)
2. Train from Montpellier to Agde (EUR8)
3. Taxi from Age train station to the Naturist quarter (EUR20-30)

You could of course make it even less expensive by using buses instead of the taxis mentioned, but the bus from the Montpellier airport does not go all the way to the train station, so you have to walk for about 15 minutes. Also, as previously mentioned on this forum, buses from Agde train station to the
Naturist quarter are notoriously slow and unreliable - it can easily take an hour once the bus shows up.

Winter Time and Naturism: It's a bit too cold here in the UK for naturism although there are a few good saunas and relaxation centre's which get one through the winter time. Hotel Manager
There are many hotels around the world which are specialist naturist establishments and, as such, it is often preferred that the managers of these hotels also embrace the naturist lifestyle as it helps to make the guests feel comfortable and at ease with their surroundings.

Bar Worker
With so many naturist resorts now existing there are increasing numbers of bar jobs arising for the naturist. There are bars in hotels, in the street and on beaches which will happily employ a naturist as a way of making similar minded tourists and visitors feel welcome. You may find that there are associated health and safety implications and you should brush up on the relevant regulations to increase your chances of gaining employment.

Swimming Pool Manager
Being a swimming pool manager at a naturist resort gives you the opportunity to enjoy your natural state whilst earning money and also sitting outside in the nice weather if the facilities exist.

It's been a bit windy and rainy these last 2 weeks in Cap d'Agde and thus certainly not the ideal weather for naturists. British naturists though would have felt at home with the rain here and maybe felt home sick :)

There are still opportunities to book a stay here and I get asked often about where and how to book a stay at what in considered the worlds largest naturist resort. The main options are:

Hotel Eve - Tends to book up early and it is not easy to get a lengthy stay booked once we are already into the summer. This is one of the main hotels within the enclosed naturist resort. It is a bit pricey for the condition and style of the hotel but it is a good place to stay, nevertheless.

Apartments - By far the majority of people choose to stay in one of the hundreds of apartments. David and Ann Agency are one of the main agencies and have a good reputation and are officially registered. David and Ann are friendly hosts and run a tight ship. Camping - The camp site is situated also within the enclosed resort and also has its own gate for carded access. The camp site is large and has very good facilities and is very popular with true naturist. The camp site runs parallel to the beach and houses both camping spots and chalets. 2 New Upcoming Spencer Tunick Installations

Spencer Tunick was real busy last summer with a number of photo shoots including at the Big Chill in the UK. Over the winter there has been no news about new installations but alas, in the last few days news home come out of 2 new locations for mass photo shoots.

I know I have mentioned Spencer Tunick a few times in but it is well worth checking the photographs and art from Spencer Tunick - an artist who uses dozens and sometims hundreds of naked models to pose in different locations worldwide. His latest 2 photo shoots and which you can participate in if you wish:

Belgium - Spencer heads to Gaasbeek Castle on Saturday 9th July 2011 and you can sign up as normal through the Tunick site.

Dead Sea, Israel - This shoot has apparently been years in the planning and this should be quite a location and make for some great photos. If you live in Israel, this will be a unique chance to get involved in one of Spencer's world famous photo shoots.

5 FAQs about Going to a Naturist Resort

Many of the very same questions come up time and time again for people going to a naturist resort for the first time. Every resort is different given the variation in location and size of the resort. Below though 5 very often asked questions that people ask me about Cap d'Agde - using this resort as an example.

1. What do I need to pack - This is a popular question I think both for the fun element in that what exactly does one need in a naturist resort :) and from a genuine pov. Not as much as on a clothed holiday for sure. Many of the Travel accessories naturists you will need are the same as for a clothed holiday i.e. sun glasses, spending money etc. Be SURE though to include warm clothing. Many people do not pack for cold weather and in resorts even in places which are hot in the daytime, it can become quite cool late at night and you might need to wrap up.

2. Can I take Photographs - For the most part, the answer is no. If you take photos of others then you could get in trouble. Taking pictures of your partner or yourselves is normally considered perfectly fine.

3. Can I avoid clothes 24 hrs a day - Some people manage to avoid clothes for the full 24 hours and for 7 days a week on holiday. The truth though as discussed under what to pack is that evenings can often get chilly and putting on something to keep warm is often needed. So 24 hrs a day is not easy to do.

4. Do you have to be a member of an organisation - It depends on the resort in question. Quite often you can purchase any needed membership on the 1st day if needed. Best way is to check with the specific resort.

5. What age and type of people do you normally come across - It is true that there are many older people who are naturists as popular opinion goes. The truth though also is that you can people of all ages from 18 through to 80 and of all shapes and sizes. Every shape, size and age - and no one seems to worry about how they look.

Christmas is over and the January blues start to set in… the reality of getting back to the daily routine and our minds start to wander towards our summer holidays. Sunshine, sea, sand, tasty food and a private spot to enjoy nature - free from clothing.

Cyprus is just one destination that is perfect for all nudists. The beautiful scenery, crystal clear waters and near year round sunshine makes it the perfect destination for a clothes free holiday. Here are the 5 must visit nudist beaches on the island of Cyprus:

Agios Georgios Coves - The coves and beaches south of Agios Georgios are a favourite spot for nudists – they offer privacy, warm azure waters and picturesque scenery. The best beaches to relax in the nude are found in the Agios Georgios bay which is a series of three covers offering privacy, tranquillity and crystal clear waters. Don’t stray too far otherwise you risk ending up on the luxury Cyprus villas development of Cap St Georges where I suspect you will be less than welcome.

Cape Greko - Close to Ayia Napa, the Cape Greko is located on the eastern side of the island. Unlike Agios Georgios, Cape Greko is more of an official spot for nudists. This has its advantages in the sense that you meet many likeminded individuals here but on the other hand, there have been a few reported incidents of ‘peeping toms’ so my advice would be that if you are not yet ready for the world to see you in all your glory then you might consider one of the other beaches mentioned here.

Melissi Beach - This spot is a little harder to reach but is very much worth the walk. If you leave the road just after the Melissi Beach restaurant and head uphill for a short while, you will come a blue flag beach which is accessed by quite a few steps. Make your way down these and once on the beach, make a right and walk along the shelf on the rocks until you come to one of the many coves and perches which are often frequented by nudist couples.

Governor’s Beach - Described unofficially as ‘The Official Nudist Beach of Cyprus’ so if you are planning a trip to the island then the Governor’s Beach is not to be missed. In the peak of summer, it isn’t unusual to see this stretch of cost almost entirely free from clothes but if you want a little more privacy then consider making a walk down the beach to an area known as White Rocks where there are less people.

Avdimou - Collapsed rocks now mean that the beach at Avdimou offers great privacy for nudists. The effort it takes to get to the beach is rewarded with spectacular views, clean beaches and lovely warm, clear waters. A word of warning though as some areas of the coast in this region belong to the military base and as such fall outside of the Cypriot jurisdiction and fines are not uncommon so be sure to avoid areas marked ‘no nudists’.

Dave St.Pierre Company at Sadler Wells

If you are interested in the natural body form (as I am sure you are, if you are reading this blog) then you might well be very interested in the Dave St.Pierre Company Tour. The Canadian choreographer is leaving his native Canada with his group to take his amazing show on tour.

If you have never been to Sadler Wells (or not even heard of it), this is a great chance to see the show and also to visit one of the best theatre's in the UK. The show itself involves a group of Canadian dancers doing different dance routines based around a story. Be prepared though for no clothes (on the dancers that is) through many of the routines as they move around the stage.

Naturist Cruises - are still relatively few but it is good to see the British based eWaterways starting to offer clothes free cruises in Croatia on a 7 day cruise in August 2011. Naturism is popular in Croatia and a wonderful location to visit in summertime.

Books for Christmas (although I know its still early) - If you want one book as a stocking filler for someone who loves naturism then The Complete Guide to Nudism and Naturism by Liz and James Egger is a definite idea and a decent book.

Alicante Spas

Roger and Alison Curtis have been in touch to tell me about the naturist sessions at Albir spa near Altea.These are held from 6.30-8pm on the on the last Sunday of each month and are organised by the Alicante Naturist Association OSIRIS.

While the spa is not particularly extensive (lots of high pressure water, a stream room, sauna and small pool), says Roger,“We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely go again.” According to the OSIRIS Facebook, members meet at Mascarat nudist beach earlier in the day, before heading to the spa.

Alicante residents and visitors can also enjoy spa sessions au naturel on the second Friday of every month at Clínica Balneario Aware in Alicante, and every Tuesday morning at the Hotel Daniya Spa in Denia. For more information about the Albir spa, contact OSIRIS through their website or Facebook.

Naked Office on TV - For those of you who watched 'Naked Office' last year, you will most likely be happy to hear that the series is to return again, although dates for when it will show in 2010 have not yet been given. Spencer Tunick at the Big Chill Festival

The very latest news is that Spencer Tunick will be doing a photographic installation at the Big Chill Festival in the UK. This festival takes place in what is a stunning setting with the Eastnor Castle and the surrounding countryside.

People attending the festival between 5th and 8th August 2010 will have the chance to get their kit off along with hundreds of others for a mass photo by Spencer - the latest of his projects around the world. The good thing is that it will at least be August and should hopefully be warm enough to shed the clothes.

Spencer Tunick comes to England

The latest news is that Spencer Tunick is doing another installation and this time he is coming to England on the the 1st and 2nd Mat 2010 to Salford in the Manchester, England area. This is a photoshoot to celebrate 10th birthday of the famous Lowry museum in the local area. What exactly Lowry himself might have made at the site of hundreds of people posing em-masse in their natural birthday suits is hard to say.

You can volunteer for the photoshoot and detailed information on the Salford Spencer Tunick shoot can be found on the Lowry website. The photoshoot takes place over 2 days and you do not need to worry if it is cold as heated buses with covered windows will be used to transport the participants around to the locations being used.

If you want to see the resulting photos without participating, you can see the art exhibition at the Lowry between the 12th June and the 26th September.

Get ready to shed your clothes for the latest Spencer Tunick mass photo shoot. Spencer has been quiet in recent times but he is back on March 1st 2010 in Sydney.

Cap d'Agde website: A big clean up and complete redesign has gone live on the top Cap d'Agde website with a significant extra number of pages and topics. New areas added include the Country Guides section which Naturism in Portugal a sample page.

Relaxation Centre cancels clothing optional Sunday's: For those of you who have been enjoying the chance of clothing optional Sunday's in the Relaxation Centre in Bristol, England should be aware that they have now cancelled the clothing optional day and now it is swimsuits only.

Bookings for Cap d'Agde - You are advised to book as early as possible if you are heading to Cap d'Agde this 2010 season. Many of the apartments book out in January and February for the season and then it becomes a matter of getting what you can after that quite often. You have been warned.

The Female form and Nic Green

For those ladies reading this blog who think often about wishing they could express themselves more and shedding those clothes, or for those women who are simply exhibitionists, Nic Green might be your answer.

Nic Green has been getting a lot of media coverage since her show at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009 and this weekend several newspapers including this weekends UK Sunday Times and the Guardian a week ago (read about Nic Green) have discussed her latest performance.

With 3 live performances of Nic Green's play Trilogy coming up, up to 100 naked local women in each venue will get on stage and perform a dance routine to the audience. The show comes in three parts in all and with the play about feminism and the expression of women, as a women you can participate in this event or watch it. Nic Green is becoming the UK's equivalent of Spencer Tunick, in that she is dedicated to the human form in a way intended for art and expression.

Nudist Cruises and Cruising

Nudist Cruising has never really taken off en-masse but there are options and locations such as the Caribbean with its warm weather, offer a great location. There are a few options and in the news recently has been the idea that new cruises for naturists might start from Port Canaveral in Florida, USA. Countries such as Croatia and Spain sometimes act as locations for naturist cruise stopovers, as does Portugal and Greece.

Some possible nudist cruise options include:

Bare Necessities 2010 and 2011 cruises. They have Hawaiian Island and a European cruises on offer for 2010 and 2011.
Hedonism 3 in the Caribbean offer a local sailing style cruise.

Naturism in the Winter time

If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you might feel it is getting too cold to enjoy the naturism lifestyle these days. For Christmas and the winter months though, if you can afford to, there are numerous locations you can head to, for some winter sun and clothes free relaxation.

Caribbean - Islands such as Jamaica and the Dominican Republic both have naturist resorts which offer excellent facilities and are well organised for events and for packages. Resorts such as Braco Village (Grand Lido Braco) are popular.

Florida, USA - is an excellent location between September and March, with those months in season and with temperatures between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit for the most part. A resort such as Caliente naturist resort near to Tampa on the West coast is a very good resort.

Mexico - Mexico also has a couple of very good resorts and the likes of 'Hidden Bay Resort' is in a great coastal location and caters for naturism.

In the meantime, it's a good time to start planning for Cap d'Agde bookings because some of the accommodation types get booked out early.

Travelling to Cap d'Agde via Paris

Many of you travel from far afield when travelling to Cap d'Agde including from countries such as USA, Canada, Australia, Venezuela, Chile, Iceland, South Korea and South Africa, to name but a few: A truly international mix of countries and cultures.

Many of you often ask about how to get to Cap d'Agde and from distant locations, the best place often to fly directly into is Paris. If you can then a connecting flight to Montpelier or Beziers-Agde airport is a very good idea. For others, the best bet is to fly into Paris and then you can catch the SNCF train down to Agde train station. From Agde train station you can jump in taxi cab to the resort.

Paris - I often get asked also about how to go about getting accommodation in Paris and what part of Paris to stay in. Wherever you stay in Paris, as long as central in an area such as Champ Elysees or Marais let us say, then you will find plenty of restaurants, bars and be close to local transportation. What I tend to do if it is for 1 night is to stay in a hotel. I prefer though often to stay for 3 days or a week also in Paris and for this amount of time I always stay in a vacation apartment (holiday apartment). Holiday Velvet Paris for example offer Paris apartments for short-term breaks and this means extra space and quite often works out cheaper than a hotel.

Are the naturist Peng Travel in trouble?

Naturism News - News out recently raises questions about the future of the travel company Travelzest and TravelZest are the owners of the UK naturist travel company Peng Travel.

Peng Travel were sold to Travelzest last year and now Travelzest are finding themselves £2 million sterling shorter than they expected after shareholder problems in the last week. This might make naturist who have holidays planned with Peng Travel quite nervous.

The good news though is that Peng Travel are a member of ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) and this should mean that you are protected if Travelzest should hit any real problems.

The 2009 Square Festival in Wales is the location if you are interested in getting naked and participating in the World Record for Skinny Dipping.

The Guinness Book of Records have now introduced a category to include the 'Skinny Dipping' record and the festival organisers for the Square Festival are on the case and will be asking its festival goers to try and join in the record attempt.

The Square Festival this year takes place between the 24th and 26th July, with the location on the North Eastern side of Wales at Borth near Aberyswyth (for your SatNav: SY24 5NA). With the festival taking place a few hundred metres from a beach, it is the perfect location for attempting such a record. The exact time and day of the attempt has yet to be confirmed but should be clear for festival attendees once the festival is on. If we hear more information we'll post it here as soon as we can....

Getting your kit off at Glastonbury

...and we are only days away now from Glastonbury Music Festival 2009 now, an event which often sees plenty of people getting naked. For naturist lovers, there are plenty of chanches to shed your clothes if you have a ticket for the event.

If its rains and gets muddy - You can join the naked mud sliders.

1. How can I book camping for Cap d'Agde. You have to book directly via the camp site. It is the only way to book camping at Cap d'Agde and the camp site is run by http://www.chm-reneoltra.fr/. You can find a lot of the camping at Cap d'Agde online also.

2. What are the best months - the answer one could say in terms of weather is July and August. These though are also the most expensive months for accommodation so June and the start of September are also quite good.

3. How can I book an apartment at Cap d'Agde - You can email David and Ann at cp@capdagde.co.uk and they can give you feedback on apartment rentals within the naturist resort.

Controversy and Fires at Cap d'Agde

Cap d'Agde Naturist resort has made the world news this last week with yet another fire occurring at the resort and with foul play now suspected. A few days ago the club Tantra at Agde was on fire and it is half burnt down and quite a mess. Chateau de tredos also caught fire not long also also.

The story of 3 fires in all now having happened at Cap d'Agde resulted in reports in the world media including on Fox News, USA and in The Times newspaper in the UK (see report here).

Even though the fires are bad and their does apparently from what the reports say, seem to be someone who is upset with the swingers element of the resort and seems perhaps to be setting fire to the 3 nightclubs, it seems realistically as though it is just one or two nutters. Hopefully soon they will find the people responsible and all will be back to normal for the summer season, as I sure it will.

Naturism in the Winter

Many of you who read this blog and contact me are based in Northern hemisphere and you ask where is good for enjoying naturism in the winter time. Cap d'Agde is open but very quiet between October and May, with many of the facilities closed down (more in the Cap d'Agde eBook). So where is good? A few ideas are:

Florida and Caliente Resort - Florida is warm in the winter with temps still around 28 celcuis and Caliente is a sizeable clothing optional resort. It is arguably not cheap but the facilities are good.

Vera Playa in Spain - is also quite a good resort and although not in peak season, you can still get soem nice weather in this Southern Spanish resort.

Grand Lido Braco in the Caribbean is worth considering if you can afford it. Also in Jamaica is Hedonism II & III and this might be a place of interest especially for couples.

Cap d'Agde update: Le Glamour Re-opens

It's been a busy and good season again this 2008 in Cap d'Agde, the worlds largest naturist resort. Set in the South of France, about 45 minutes drive from Montpellier, it's been a packed season and the weather has held up and the beach has been full this August.

Le Glamour update: Many of you may be aware the nightclub Le Glamour burned done as the season was starting at Cap d'Agde in May. Le Glamour, one of the resorts best nightclubs was hastily rebuilt and the good news is that it is even better and bigger than before. It is now open for business, although the restaurant which previously adjoined Le Galmour will not be open for a while.

Accommodation at Cap d'Agde: There are a few more choices for accommodation at the naturist resort now, in cap d'Agde. Natureva Spa in quite new and offers luxury accommodation. Jardin Eden, Agde is also another new and luxury option.

New Dublin date: Spencer Tunick Group Photo Shoots

Hot on the heels of the Vienna, Austria mass nude photo shoot from Spencer Tunick, Spencer has announced that he will also be doing shoots in Dublin and Cork, Ireland in the next few months.

May 2008 Spencer Tunick photo shoot in Vienna, Austria

Details are now out about Spencer Tunick's next mass nude photo shoot. Now famous for taking photos in dozens of countries for his photos of volunteers who pose nude in groups of hundreds and sometimes thousands, the New York photographer has announced Vienna, Austria as the location for his next photo shoot.

If you are interested in participating, the date to put in your calendar is May 11th 2008, with the location the Ernst Happel Stadium, located at Meiereistraße 7, in Vienna. You can sign up directly via Spencer's site at www.spencertunick.com

Participants for the Vienna installation will get some help towards travel expenses to the stadium and also a copy of one of the prints from the photo shoot. More than two thousands peopel are expected to participate although if the last few photo shoots are anything to go by, the numbers could be well in excess of two thousand.

Naturism Books

There are not so many naturism books out there on the shelves but a few I have found good and from a new series are from the writers Nick Mayhew-Smith et al. The book 'The World's Best Nude Beaches and Resorts' has recently come out and it is very informative and in my view and quite importantly, quite accurate and up-to-date.

In the same series from Nick Mayhew-Smith et al are also Bare Britain and Bare Beaches and both can be ordered direct from the Bare Beaches website. It is not very often that new naturism books come out and these guides are quite unique in that there are so few guides providing information about where naturism can be enjoyed.

The Bare Beaches website also offers regular updates on material in their books which also makes their books worthwhile. If it is Cap D'agde information you need, you know where to look!

2008 Nudist Polar Bear Dip - World Record! - Canada

One of the highlights of the winter for some of the madder nudists is the Polar Bear swim every Christmas in cities around the world. In English Bay in Canada, more than 2,000 nudist swimmers braved the frozen waters of the bay for the 88th swim.

The swim was watched by as many people, as friends and associates etc stood by on the side and watched the nudist polar bear dip, but dressed and in warmth! The organisers have now sent details of the event to the Guinness Books of Records and they hope that this years 2008 English Bay nudist dip will qualify for the largest number of people at one time to do the nudist skinny dip.

My wife and I love naturism and finding new resorts and places where we can go. One thing we are planning soon and which you may also be interested in a Naturist Cruise. In Europe, from the 10th may to the 17th May 2008, FKK are doing a nudist cruise.

Istrian Peninsula, Croatia Nudist & Naturism travel

The Istrian Peninsula, Croatia is a place where you can these take naturism and nudist holidays and it is a place worth considering from our experience. Valalta on the Southern Croatian Istrian coast, is a lovely area and it boasts a well organised and quality naturist resort.

On the local naturism resort you can stay naked 24 hours a day although and the naturist hotel offers half board and good facilities. The naturism resort area and hotel have facilities which include a pool area, sunbathing areas, local shops, massage, gym and sauna, in addition to live entertainment.

There is a lovely 5km beach and there are many other beaches which are suitable also for naturist in Istria. The naturist resort area itself, is close to the the 11 km long nature reserve Lim fjord.

Another good place for naturism is Barcelona. Barcelona has a very good naturist beach and the weather to match and is driveable from Cap d'Agde although not close enough for simply a day trip.

New flights from UK to Cap D'agde

Some great news for naturist and naturism lovers who live in the South West and South of England. Ryanair.com this week have announced that from 15th May 2008, they will be flying from Bristol, England to Beziers airport in the Languedoc region.

From Beziers airport you can literally get a taxi direct to Cap D'agde naturism resort (the worlds largest nudists village, with shops, clubs, a 3 mile sandy beach and much more). My wife and I have previously used a taxi to the airport from the resort and it came to approx 60 euros (which is far far cheaper than hiring a car and takes only about 35 minutes).

Before, travellers from the South West and South Wales would have had to go to London to fly to Beziers of Montpelier. This new flight will really make the journey far easier. For all flight and travel to Cap D'agde click here.

Spencer Tunick in Miami - Naturist photos

Yesterday saw Spencer Tunick take pictures for his latest installation, with 600 people stripping down to the buff in Miami Beach in Florida, USA. After recent group photo installations in Newcastle and Melbourne, Spencer was down in the Art Deco area.

Taking place at the Sagamore Hotel in Miami, the six hundred volunteers got down to their birthday suits at around midday and a variety of photos were taken including several on the balcony of the hotel and other pictures on props such as sun beds. The photos will all be displayed in the future, in the hotel lobby art collection.

Spencer Tunick has been taking pictures of people in the buff for years and he has reverted lately to also including props such as getting some of the nudist models to bathe in chocolate first in preparation for the photos. The type of people who pose for the photos are normally literally from every walk of life and have included pregnant women and businessmen in the past.

Naturism photography

If you are interested in naturism then one hobby you might really enjoy taking up is naturism photography. Photographing the naked body can be fun for you and your partner and there are also groups and several books about this subject.

What makes this naturism hobby so simple is that many digital cameras these days, such as the D40 are more than good enough for what you will need and tripods are also cheap. With a couple of naturism photography book syou will be all set. One book I would recommend is the book Lighting for Nude Photography (Paperback) by Rod Ashford. This book, available on www.amazon.com and www.amazon.co.uk is a great book to start with.

You should remember that with naturism and photography though that you should ask permission from anyone you are taking a picture of.

Maze night - in the buff (York Saturday 28th July)

Cap D'agde facilities for naturists

Many people want to know more about the naturism village at Cap D'agde in the South of France. Can you shop without clothes, or go to the bank, supermarket or bar in the buff? How big is the village or do people dress up at night time. To give you some basics read on.

The resort is said to be the largest naturist village in the world and it is also said that there are up to 40,000 there at a given time, in the peak of season.

The naturism resort is an enclosed resort. There is a gate at the main entrance and the camping site within the naturism resort, also has its own entrances and you need a pass to enter the camp site.

You can literally stay undressed 24 hours a day in the resort, but the reality is is that many people do dress up at nighttime. It does get cooler in the evenings and many people enjoy dressing up in whatever they wish to.

At home - Many people said they simply started spending a lot of time at home with their clothes shed and after a while, once their partner got used to it, the partner will start spending time time in the buff also. This then can lead to visiting a naturism resort or club.

Visit a clothing optional beach - If your partner has the chance to go to a beach which gives the choice of clothing or not, then at least they can gain familarity with the atmosphere and gain confidence. Your partner might even end up joining in by the end of the day.

Beg - You can try pleading and begging. This has been known to work for some people. Promise to take your wife shopping during your vacation or holiday to the naturism resort. Promise to accompany your husband to a football game. Just workign on your partner!

If you are Italian or if you just prefer to read Italian than English, one of the main Cap D'agde related websites now has many of its pages in Italian and on a daily basis, other pages are being added in on the Italian Cap D'agde version.

The Italian pages are a direct translation from the English version of www.capdagdefrance.co.uk and pages thus include all about flights and getting to the Cap D'agde naturism resort, nightlife, family naturism, the camping area, FAQs and much more. It is hoped that a French version will also follo win the near future, especially considering the resort is in the South of France.

Located on the Eastern and South-Eastern Canary Islands, Spain, Fuerteventura as the 2nd largest canary Island, is aplace you should certainly consider if you are looking for a decent naturism holiday or vacation. Fuerteventura has some great nudist beaches and has great year for most of the year.

Naturism in Fuerteventura is very popular and widespread on these islands, with naturism legal in Spain. Some names of hotels near naturist beaches include:

Hotel Occidental Grand
Hotel Playa Esmeralda
Tres Islas Palace

The Occidental Grand hotel is one of the most well known and it has a small naturist area near the hotel. If you can get a good deal with the Occidental hotel then it can be a good place for naturists to stay. If Fuerteventura is not the place for you then maybe it might be worth thinking about staying at Cap D'agde.

If you are interested in naturism then one book which I have found to be very good for information on nudists beaches and places, is the book 'Bare beaches'.

The book by Mike Charles & Nick Smith (ISBN-10: 0954476719) has reviews on nudists beaches in Europe (including Cap D'agde) and also the Caribbean, North and South America, Australia, NZ and South Africa. The book has some good information on the destrinations and how to get there, as well as deatils on naturists cruises.

The book is reasonaly priced and although not a reading book as such, the book can give you some ideas for planning your naturism trip.

Nudist gym in Amsterdam (5th Feb 07)

If you are a naturist or into naturism and you live in Holland the news that one of the gyms has introduced a Naked Sunday gym day, which probably make you happy. Fitworld gym in the town of Heteren, backed by the Naturists Federation on Holland, commence with the nudists work outs started from 4th March 2007.

Nudists who attend are required to use towels on some machines and disposable seats covers on the bicycle machines. The owner researched the demand and there seems to be a market for naturist gym sessions.

Nudist walking Tour in Europe (22nd Jan 07)

If you are a naturist or nudist and you love walking, you will be delighted to know that a Nudist walking tour will take place in Europe between the dates 1st July and 7th July, 2007. The walking tour will involve walks which will not be overly physical and will include parts of the central European Alps, with living quarters primarily camping.

Nudefest 2007 for naturists

Nudefest 2007 in the UK has now been announced and will take place on Saturday 23rd June, in Cornwall at the Eden Project. Tickets are now on sale for what is expected to be one of the top naturists days in the UK calender for 2007.

The event will take place only for 4 hours (7 to 11 p.m. but it is expected that 2500 naturist will congregate at this excellent venue. (see the Eden Project website). The venue itself is a small theme park which highlights the worlds different climates and environments. The different sections include a rainforest, Tropics Biome zone, Warm Temperate Biome and Roofless Biome.
The Eden project is worth visiting anyway, but to be able to visit and enjoy the benefits of naturism are an added bonus.

The ticket prices for this event includes a hot and cold buffet dinner of fresh, two drinks per person and entertainment. Entertainment will include face painting for kids and also live music.

Nudist Marathon in Argentina (21st Nov. 06)

If you are interested in running a nudist marathon and you don't mind flying to Argentina then keep December 3rd free in your diary. Known as National Nudi-Naturist Day the Yatan Rumi nudist club in Tanti, Cordoba province, Argentina, are holdign their 2nd annual marathon.

After a successful marathon last year, which saw sixty runners, The marathon and naturism group organisers have a website set up with more information on the marathon, although the details are only in Spanish. All events held will be held nude and additionally, all visitors including press, will have be nude if they wish to be present. be held nude, and this year, he tells us, even members of the press must disrobe if they wish to attend.

Nudist record missed by 1197 people (9th Nov. 06)

Despair and frustation were felt by some nudists in Colorado, USA last week when the attempt to break the world record for the highest number of streakers running together. The Colorado group numbered aimed to break the record of 1200 streakers and after an attempt by the three organisers to round people up for this charity raising affair, the 3 Colorado State University students Charlie Scheid, Rob Thomas and Nick Thomas, were the only people who turned up to participate - leaving them 1197 short of the 1200 needed to at least equal the record.

Rob Thomas had boasted before the event that: 'Online, we have 500 plus confirmed to attend and 895 possible shows and with the help of the 'Rocky Mountain Collegian' we should have no problem breaking the record.' Unfortunately, most of those confirmed streakers then didn't show up – even though the event was also attempting to raise money for cancer research.
'It's the kind of experience that 20 years from now, I'm going to be telling my kids. I was a part of something at college,' said one of the streakers, who presumably has quite low expectations for the rest of his life. To make matters worse, CSU had just lost the football match to New Mexico 20-19.

The book covers many aspects of naturism and is very informative, covering areas including etiquette and do's and dont's, the rules of naturism, health, naturism travel and also discussion about how naturism is suitable for different groups such as families, singles and couples.

As the winter in for many naturists, many naturists are anxiously already thinking towards the summer and spring of 2007. Discussion on recent messages on the Cap D'agde Yahoo group have centered around how to manage as a naturist over the winter months. Cap d'agde is fantastic for enjoying a few weeks doing everything in the buff, in the summer time, but during those long dark months of winter, its tough. What is a ntaurist to do?

Nudists Nightclub in London, England (1st Oct. 06)

Any of you who are naturist or nudists and who will be travelling to London, England will probably be happy to know that Starkers Nightclub is open again and they also also relaunched their website for the club. To visit this naturist nightclub it costs £15 for non-members and £10 for members.

The nightclub has heating and a cloakroom where you can leave everything. The club is open every 3rd friday of the month for naturists and is located in South London.

Alternative travel ideas: What happens when you see the neighbours on a nudist resort?

Imagine the situation. You are walking hand in hand with your partner on the waters edge, the water is warm and crisp, and the sun is beating down, the skies clear. You are totally relaxed as you walk by many other couples, families, and children, but alas, you then see one of your neighbours, or it could even be a work colleague. It wouldn't be so bad, but you are wearing nothing at all, except for the hair on your back. You are in Cap D'agde naturist resort or one of the other numerous and increasingly popular naturism resorts.

This situation has happened to people before but you will be surprised. It ends up being a positive experience because it is rare that a work colleague or neighbour will tell others, because they themselves will have to admit to enjoying natures way. It tends to be that a sense of sharing a fun secret exists. Many people these days are looking for a new way of travelling, a new experience and newer ways to relax. You can if you choose, decide to go camel riding in deepest Africa, you can even go to South Korea and participate in the Boryeoung annual Mud Festival, or you can shed your clothes and let go of all your inhibitions and find genuine relaxation.

Many people are surprised by how much they enjoy the nudists’ lifestyle. Their partner persuades them to try this alternative form of travel and despite the nervous first hour or so, the majority of people I talk with speak of very positive experiences.

In the first hour the first time you visit a naturist resort, or at a nudist camp, it can be a strange surreal experience. The realisation that comes to you is that to stay fully clothed, you would get more stares and look stranger than if you walk around in the nuddie. For an insight into what it might be like, when you try naturism as an alternative form of travel, you might want to watch a movie such as Confetti, the new 2006 British movie in which a competition is held by a magazine, to see who can organise the most unusual wedding. One of the chosen types is a naturist wedding. The movie will give you an initial idea of naturism life.

If you want to try something different on your next holiday and you like the idea of being liberated, which you will feel afterwards, why not try somewhere such as Cap D'agde naturist village, beach & camping in France, or Euronat.

New movie involving naturism (24th Sep. 06)

Nudists in the movies - If you are into movies then you may have already heard about the new British movie called 'Confetti'. It should reach the states and is available on the net and this movie is a new British comedy which involves naturism. It may not be a naturism movie as such and it is rated 15, but it is still good I think, to see a movie coming out involving nudists and in which naturism is certainly one of the main themes.

'Confetti' is a movie about a competition organised by a magazine called Confetti, with the competition based on seeing who can organise the most unusual wedding. The three couples involved choose to do:
- a West End theatre ceremony
- a tennis themed wedding, and
- naturist wedding.

The movie apparently was largely unscripted hence it is almost a movie style documentary. Most of the cast are also well-known on British television. I have not seen it myself yet but will have by next week :)

Naturists Britain - The survey (16th Sep. 06)

People's views on naturism in Britain, have been recently revaled with the reults of a new survey, which was undertaken by PropertyFinder.com. The interesting results reveal for example that 20% of respondants walk around in their birthday suits at home, whilst 85% report that they would have no problem to live next to naturists.

A suprising 21% of respondant reported that they have caught one of their neighbours in the buff at least once, and close to 18% have sunbathed in the nuddy before. Statistics from other reports in the media also show that British people are taking to naturism holidays in droves. Trips to resorts such as Cap D'agde and Costa Natura are becoming more and more popular, as Brits enjoy shedding their clothes on holiday. British Naturism Club now have over 15,000 members and over 100 UK based clubs so the appreciation of naturism is clear to see.

Naturism Day at Abbey House Gardens (3rd Sep. 06)

I am sure you heard about Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England. In case you haven't, this is a series of beautiful gardens have been developed and maintained by a naturist couple and in the last year, they have begun opening their gardens to the public. The clothing optional days they have offered in the last few months have turned out to be very popular and as a result, they are opening their gates again to naturists, to celebrate WORLD NAKED GARDENING DAY on Saturday 9th September, 2006.

You do NOT need any membership to any naturism club to enter. Entry for adults is £5.50, children aged between 5and 15 for £2.00 and special prices for famly groups (£13 for 2 adults and 2 children). The gardens themselves cover 5 acres, including a river gardens area.

Naturism weeekend at Alton Towers, UK (25th Aug 06)

British Naturism have confirmed that they are organising a naturist weekend at Alton Towers, the large Amusement Park in Northern England. The naturist weekend trip will take place between the 7th and 19th November 2006 and there will be a lot of activities going on, which are organised by British Naturism.

The events, according to BN's website, will likely include a beach bar party in the Waterpark, a Treasure Hunt, a naturist exhibition (promoting and highlighting many apspects of naturism - with "naturist businesses of all types including resorts, travel companies, clubs, publishers" etc represented.

The hotel used is the The Splash Landings Hotel at Alton Towers. For more informtion on this naturist weekend in November, you can visit the BN website. The trip is open to BN and non-BN members.

Places to relax in your birthday site in the UK (16th July 06)

There are places in the UK where naturists can enjoy the freedom which they seek. The weather may not be perfect and it may be unreliable, but if you live or are visiting England, there are places you can enjoy the nudist lifestyle. Below are some favourites:

1. Bristol gardens Spa, Brighton. The facilities are excellent in this sauna/spa centre and if you also go on weekend after 6pm, facilities are for couples only. Swim suits are BANNED and this is an excellent place for relaxing. There are several steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs and plung pools and a massage room on the top level and also an outdoor rooftop area. This spa centre is only 5 minutes from the beach-front, and is worth a visit.

2. The Relaxation centre, Bristol - based in Redland, Bristol, is a long, established and respectable spa and sauna complex. It is an excellent and affordable place for relaxation. The Centre offers facilities including saunas, steam room, hot tub, spa , floatation room, relaxation lounge, meditation room, massage and classes. Spa/sauna sessions are sometimes women only and sometimes mixed. Only Sundays you can also go clothing optional in the facilities.

Different treatments are on offer including Indian head massage and classes which occur from time-to-time, include various yoga, Hakomi, Qi Gongand massage (including tantric an dIndian head massage). For further information, including directions, visit their website at their website. Prices for a couple on Sundays for the sauna/spa facilities is only £36 for the two. (£40 from september 2006).

3. The 3rd lace for now is 'South Hants Country Club'. Thsis club is open to public naturist and it offers suitable facilities in the summer time, for a relaxing few days or a week, in Hampshire.

This club is in a small valley of more than 10 acres of countryside, the club has an outdoor pool (heated to 27 celuis) , sunbathing area, indoor leisure complex (including a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa), adjoining the bar and restaurant which overlooks the outdoor pool. There is caravan area and camping area, and guests can book stays for a full week, weekend and midweek breaks. There are also 3 three all-weather miniten courts, a volleyball court, a boules area, badminton and table tennis. Children can choose from a large play area with swings, a slide, climbing frame and sand pit.

Cap d'agde naturist village (2nd July 06)

Naturism is described by many people as being the fastest growing form of tourism in Europe. If you have been thinking yourself about trying out naturism but have not quite made the move, then why not join 40,000 other naked people in the South of France - at cap d'agde. It's the worlds' only real naturist village.

If you live in the United States and want to visit somewhere much closer to home then Caliente Naturist resort is certainly worth considering. The Caliente Resort and Spa is quite new and it is quite a luxurious Naturist Resort and Spa.

If in England, then you can always enjoy the excellent facilities on Saturday and sunday evenings at Bristol gardens Spa in Brighton. This is a decent place for naturists to visit for a few hours and they have many saunas, steam rooms, dip pools and a relaxation area. BG Spa is probably beter for wintertime naturism. In the summer heat, a place such as Cap D'agde naturist resort or Caliente are better choices.

Discussion - What always made my wife and I laugh when we were at Cap D'agde last summer, as we walked along the beach nude (with literally hundreds of other people) was how it would feel to suddenly come face to face with someone one of us knew from work, or a neighbour or a family member etc - who we didn't know was into naturism themsleves. Well, it happened with 2 days left at Cap d'agde. We were walking down the beach in the midlde of the aftennon and low and behold, we came face to face with one of my co-workers. I am not sure if his wife and he were more surprised, or if my wife and I were. We said the usual pleasanteries and I guess you can't but help notice that you are all butt naked, all four of you. We talked for a while and then after a few minutes, it seemed like the most natural thing in the world. We ended up hanging out with them a fair bit in the last few days and then once back in the office the following week, we kept it to ourselves. There actualy seemed to be a mutual respect in that we all appreciated that there were other people we knew who felt free with themselves and their own bodies to be relaxed enough to also be interested in naturism.

It's April and the weather in Europe is warming up. One of the biggest problems with naturism if you are living in England is the cold weather. Who wants to be a naturist in England. I guess it is better than in Finland where is is usually far colder.

Interesting though, my wife and I first experiences naturism in Helsinki, when we were invited to a party in the countryside by a lake, with about a dozen or so mostly Finnish friends. We had a large dinner party and this was then followed by the traditional visit to the sauna. in the mixed and nude sauna my wife and I were at first hesitant but we soon got into the flow of the evening. Soon we were fully at ease and joiing our friends as they spent time between the sauna and the lake. At the lake people immersed their naked bodies fully below a whole in the ice water (there was a ladder to hold onto for safety). It is amazing because you do not feel the cold like you would expect - because your body is so warm from the sauna.

Anyway, the summer will be here soon. Have you ever come across a friend or colleague whilst on a naturist beach by the way. More about that in the next nudist blog. Will also talk about the reason why most people sleep walk naked!

Last summer we went to Cap D'agde the naturist village popularly known as the naked Village. With up to 40,000 naked people there at on time and with over 300,000 apparantly there during the summer, it is a great place. Go dining naked, go to the bank, shopping, to the post office, to get a hair cut all nude. The village is self contained and good for everyone interested in naturism. We'll probably choose to go there again this summer.
